Methodology
How we research Swiss city breaks.
Our Editorial Philosophy
A good city break depends on your time, season and budget. We describe the options using cited sources, then explain the tradeoffs.
How We Choose What to Recommend
Recommendations consider these criteria and explain their limits:
- 1
Trip fit
Match the traveler, timing and the decision the guide addresses.
- 2
Scope
Check what a ticket, pass or excursion includes, including stated restrictions.
- 3
Season and opening
Distinguish seasonal schedules from year-round opening.
- 4
Evidence
Cite factual claims and identify unsupported or uncertain details.
What We Don't Rank By
Understanding what we explicitly exclude matters for trust.
- ✗Affiliate commission rates
- ✗Paid placement
- ✗Invented visits
- ✗Unverified guarantees
Where Our Data Comes From
Our recommendations synthesize multiple signal types. We prioritize signals in this order:
1. Tourism offices and operators
Official descriptions, opening hours, seasonal schedules and prices
2. Museums and attractions
Direct descriptions of exhibitions, tickets and access
3. Attributed reporting
Published context with an identifiable source and date
Handling Uncertainty
When a source doesn't confirm a detail, the guide says so and points you to the operator page to check. We'd rather be clear about what is published than guess.
